Warfare Inventions
Roman warfare resulted in many things being invented. The new inventions and ideas helped the Roman Army defeat enemies and conquer new areas. The Roman Army developed an early form of the catapult (the onagers) that were used to throw boulders at their enemies. Battering rams were used to stop arrows and to smash into a fortification. It was made of wood and animal hide, however, this was flammable. Siege towers allowed Romans to gain access to a fort by climbing up the ladders inside it and stand on a platform to shoot arrows or throw spears over the wall.
